I'm currently doing an Industrial Placement Year from uni at Yotta, a digital mapping company based in Leamington Spa. I began as a lowly GIS data processor and have now moved to being the CVI/DVI Processing Co-ordinator, and wrote a few manuals along the way. My current challenge is to recruit and train a team and document the procedures. Next Autumn I'll be heading back to uni for my final year of my BSc Geography degree at Coventry Uni (chosen due to proximity to my house). My main academic interests are GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and hydro(geo)logy. In a previous life, I worked as an Analytical Chemist at Severn Trent Laboratories in Coventry, where I work for the Quality department making Analytical Quality Check standards for the laboratories. Before I moved to Quality I worked in the sludge lab, analysing sludge from sewage works, which could be a bit smelly at first, but then it kills your sense of smell! I hadn't envisaged working in chemistry as it was my least favourite of the sciences at school, but I discovered that the processes at sewage works are actually quite interesting! But I also discovered that the career progression at STL is minimal, which along with the rubbish pay motivated me to go back to uni and finally get my degree! Other stuff about me:
